Megan K. DeFranza, PhD
a scholar, activist, filmmaker, and coach
helping people heal from unhealthy messages about
sexuality, sex differences, gender, and purity culture.
Informed, experienced, and gracious,
Megan combines careful scholarship
with charitable conversations across differences.
Dr. DeFranza is a leading scholarly voice
critiquing traditionalist interpretations of the Bible
that have harmed women, LGBTQIA+, cis-gender and straight people;
advancing more inclusive, faithful, healthy biblical interpretations.
In the privacy of her coaching office (and virtually),
Megan works with individuals, couples, and groups
on sexual healing and relationship wellness.
Her books on Christianity and biological sex differences (male, female, and intersex),
gender identity, and sexuality are used as textbooks in colleges and seminaries.
Understanding the power of stories, she elevated the voices of intersex people of faith
directing an award winning documentary,
and created an award winning video curriculum for churches.
In every area of her life, Megan invites people onto the common ground of our shared humanity; working from the conviction that we are each worthy of love and capable of creating positive changes in our lives and communities.
